Reporting Developer (1-year FTC)
About this role:
BSR are currently undertaking a group wide digital transformation with Microsoft Dynamic and an Azure Fabric at its core. Reporting to the Head of Information Technology BSR are seeking a Reporting Developer with expertise in data modelling and Power BI to support the development, deployment, and management of enterprise reporting across the group.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing data models, building interactive dashboards, building a suite of core business reports and enabling self-service analytics to support business decision-making.
What you will be doing:
- Design, develop, and manage Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards for enterprise-wide deployment.
- Build high-performance, user-friendly data models optimized for efficiency and scalability.
- Implement advanced DAX calculations to deliver KPIs, metrics, and trend analyses.
- Enforce report standardization and BI best practices to ensure a consistent user experience.
- Gather and analyse reporting requirements from business teams and leadership stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into comprehensive technical specifications for BI solutions.
- Present data-driven insights and dashboards to executive teams and decision-makers.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business teams, IT, and analytics stakeholders.
- Ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance across all reports and dashboards.
- Collaborate with data engineers to maintain high-quality, reliable data sources.
- Partner with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to deliver actionable insights.
- Stay current with Power BI enhancements, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure analytics technologies.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement new BI tools and technologies to improve scalability and usability.
- Promote a culture of data literacy and self-service analytics across the organization.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data definitions, KPIs, and reporting processes.
- Optimize data refresh schedules and dashboard performance for timely and efficient reporting.
- Conduct data validation and quality assurance checks to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Continuously enhance query performance, data refresh cycles, and system scalability.
- Automate recurring reports and workflows to minimize manual effort and increase efficiency.
- Implement self-service BI capabilities for business users to empower independent analysis.
- Identify and recommend process improvements and opportunities for leveraging advanced analytics.
What experience you will have:
- Batchelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience in reporting, data analytics, or business intelligence.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI including DAX, Power Query (M), and dataflows.
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction and transformation.
- Experience with data modelling (star/snowflake schemas) and data visualization best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize reporting needs.
- Excellent communication skills to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, or SQL Server.
- Experience with Azure DevOps for version control and deployment pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
