What you will be doing in this role:
BSR’s Australian entity, BSR EPC Pty Limited (BSR Australia) has delivered four utility scale PV and BESS EPC projects in the Northern Territory. BSR Australia is looking to become a market leading integrated renewable energy Developer, EPC and IPP in Australia with a focus on greenfield initiated projects.
BSR Australia has an exciting opportunity to lead the design of a significant project pipeline in various locations across Australia, providing engineering support in all facets of the business and throughout all stages of a project’s lifecycle, and the management of an engineering team within a growing integrated renewable energy business.
What we need from you:
- Manage the detailed design of Solar, BESS and hybrid projects, including generation auxiliary and control circuits, switchgear and protection arrangements.
- Development, implementation and management of the engineering strategy of the Australian Business.
- Work as part of the management team to deliver the company goals and targets.
- Lead the expansion of BSR Australia’s Engineering Team in line with the business growth strategy.
- Work with the Development and Post Construction teams to ensure cross business communication and technical compliance.
- Keeping abreast of developments and changes in the electricity market across new technologies, network expansion and rule changes.
- Liaise with OEMs, NSPs, AEMO and consultants on technical matters.
- Review new or improved technology and equipment, OEMs and software.
- Continually review processes and procedures to ensure designs and the design process itself are efficient and effective, and conforms to Australian Standards.
- Responsible for the Quality Management of the Australian Engineering Team.
- Develop peer-to-peer lessons learned and best practice opportunities with the global business.
- Ensure safety is held in the highest regard within the team.
- Sign off designs as Principal Engineer.
- Meet with internal and external stakeholders, clients and external parties, where required.
- Attend conferences and events where required.
Additional Engineering Responsibilities
- Manage Electrical design.
- Manage Safety in design.
- Manage PV system design modelling.
- Manage engineering consultants from other engineering disciplines.
- Understand R1, R2, GPS, NTC, NER, NSP and AEMO requirements.
- Review and interpret connection agreement documentation, modelling reports, applications.
- Manage design in accordance with relevant Australian and International Standards.
What skills will you have?
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum five years professional Solar PV and BESS system design and management experience at utility scale.
- RPEQ registration.
- Detailed knowledge of inverter technology, array sizing, yield optimisation, module selection and component assessments.
- Detailed knowledge of the AEMO grid connection process.
- Experience with PV yield modelling (PVsyst, etc.).
- Proficient in electrical systems design, including electrical power circuits, SCADA, communications systems, cable sizing and selection, protection design, etc..
- Earthing design: step, touch and EPR calculations.
- Experienced user of the following software:
- AutoCAD – Understand AS1100 drawing standards.
- MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.
- Power systems modelling (PSSe, PSCAD, PowerFactory, etc.) experience is desirable.
- Project Management experience is desirable.
- Expertise in wind is desirable.
CPEng qualification is desirable
