Scagglethorpe Solar Park
Scagglethorpe Solar Park is a proposed renewable energy project near York, North Yorkshire. Once operational, it is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 17,878 homes each year, avoiding around 15,835 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. Alongside clean energy generation, we’re designing the project to support nature, work closely with local communities and create positive outcomes that last beyond the lifetime of the solar park.
Project timeline
Scagglethorpe Solar Park is currently in development. We are progressing environmental surveys, technical assessments and project design work ahead of a planned planning application submission in March 2027. Subject to planning approval, a decision is anticipated in March 2028.

Working with and for communities
We’re committed to working openly with local communities throughout the development of Scagglethorpe Solar Park.
Community feedback helps shape our projects and informs the decisions we make as proposals evolve. Alongside ongoing engagement, we’re proposing a community benefit fund that would support local initiatives and projects chosen by the community.
Our aim is to create long-term value beyond renewable energy generation, helping deliver benefits that can be felt throughout the lifetime of the project.
Biodiversity and nature protection
Nature and renewable energy can thrive side by side.
As part of the project design, we’re considering a range of measures to support local wildlife, including new wildflower grassland, wild bird seed areas and breeding boxes for birds and bats.
These measures form part of our Nature Protection Pledge, which commits every solar park we submit to planning to achieving a minimum 60% Biodiversity Net Gain.
