Investment Analyst

British Solar Renewables (BSR) has an excellent track record of Developing and constructing utility-scale projects. BSR EPC Pty Limited (BSR (Australia)) was established in 2017 and has delivered four Utility scale PV and BESS EPC projects in the Northern Territory and the Kerang Solar Farm in regional Victoria, Australia.

BSR Australia is now looking to expand its capabilities and become a market leading Integrated renewable energy Developer, EPC and IPP in Australia with a focus on Greenfield initiated projects. About the role
Reporting to Commercial & Investment Director (based in Melbourne), you will be responsible for developing and maintaining financial models across greenfield and M&A projects, providing concise analysis to support investment and development decisions. This role offers future development opportunities in stakeholder management, financial structuring and risk allocation.

The successful candidate must be self-motivated, pro-active and conscientious. They must be comfortable working in a small, close knit, dynamic team, in a fast-paced environment with the ability to work to tight deadlines and demonstrating a strong attention to detail.

This role will require exceptional analytical skills and a strong foundation in financial modelling is essential. Ideally, these abilities will be complimented by knowledge or experience in the Australian renewable energy sector.

This is a full-time opportunity based in the Brisbane or Melbourne office with the flexibility to work from home.

The successful candidate must possess the following:

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support investment decisions.
  • Propose and implement relevant sensitivity analyses for investment files.
  • Collaborate across internal functions to develop financial model inputs and assumptions while ensuring accuracy of inputs into financial models.
  • Develop, analyse, evaluate, and recommend financial options and proposals related to business development projects or other funding needs.
  • Support the valuation and risk analysis of new projects.
  • Assist in structuring and executing Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and project financing transactions.

Educational Background

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics), or a focused degree program with skills in project management, project financing, investments, equity, mergers, acquisitions, power, energy, or renewable markets.
  • Achieved or working towards a professional finance related qualification (CIMA, CFA, CPA etc) will be viewed favourably

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in conducting investment analysis, Financial Modelling, M&A, and project finance transactions at an investment bank, private equity fund, advisory firm, or strategic energy company.
  • Australian energy market experience in utility-scale renewables and storage, is preferable however not essential.

Technical Skills

  • Strong Excel skills including an understanding of VBA.
  • Proficiency in analysing data and utilising detailed financial models,
  • Understanding of the Australian energy market and policy environment
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and maintaining effectiveness in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams etc)
