North Dairy Solar Park
North Dairy Solar Park generates enough renewable electricity to power around 14,869 homes each year while avoiding approximately 13,169 tonnes of carbon emissions. As an independent power producer, we own and operate the site for the long term, helping ensure it continues to deliver clean energy while supporting local wildlife and the surrounding community.
Our responsibility doesn’t end when construction is complete. We’re committed to looking after both the renewable energy infrastructure and the land it sits on, creating positive outcomes that can be seen long after the solar park becomes operational.

At North Dairy, renewable energy and nature work side by side.
The site has been carefully designed and managed to create a more diverse landscape for wildlife. More than 5,000 trees and 22,000 plants have been introduced across the site, alongside wildflower meadows, marshy grassland, bird cover crops, and restored ponds and watercourses.
These enhancements provide a range of habitats for local wildlife while helping strengthen ecological connections across the wider landscape. Together, they have helped North Dairy achieve more than 124% Biodiversity Net Gain, ensuring the site delivers significant environmental benefits alongside clean energy generation.

Supporting local wildlife
The habitats created at North Dairy support a wide range of species.
Wildflower-rich areas provide important food sources for pollinators, while grassland, hedgerows and woodland planting create shelter and nesting opportunities for birds and mammals. Restored ponds and wetland features help support amphibians and other aquatic species.

Working with and for communities
We believe renewable energy projects should create lasting value for the communities that host them.
North Dairy is supported by a £62,000 community benefit fund administered by Dorset Community Foundation. The fund helps support local initiatives and projects that make a positive difference to the area.
Funding has already contributed towards the installation of a public defibrillator in Mappowder, helping improve access to potentially lifesaving equipment for local residents.
