About this project
Zonnepark Koudekerke is a 3.6MW solar park located near the village of Koudekerke in the province of Zeeland.
The project produces enough clean electricity to power around 1,000 households each year, generating 3,420MWh of renewable energy and avoiding approximately 797 tonnes of COâ‚‚ emissions annually.
Zonnepark Koudekerke offers members of the Koudekerke/Dishoek Energy Neutral Cooperative the opportunity to invest directly in the solar park, keeping value and benefits within the local area.
A community-powered project
Zonnepark Koudekerke was developed with strong community collaboration, giving residents a genuine stake in their local energy future.
Through the Koudekerke/Dishoek Energy Neutral Cooperative, local members can invest in the solar park, earning returns while directly supporting the region’s transition to sustainable power.
This shared ownership model shows how clean energy can strengthen communities, providing local value while contributing to a greener future.
Working with and for communities
At British Solar Renewables, we collaborate with communities to deliver clean energy that supports both local needs and tackles the climate crisis.
This project has supported local employment, advanced renewable energy skills, and contributed directly to the Netherland’s clean energy transition, helping to power communities sustainably for decades to come.
Throughout the Zonnepark Koudekerke’s development, we worked closely with:
- Local landowners and councils to ensure responsible land use and minimal disruption.
- Community and environmental groups to keep residents informed and engaged.
- Regional businesses and suppliers to create local job opportunities and strengthen the regional economy.
We’re proud to have supported this development and to see it contributing to a more sustainable, resilient local energy network.
Biodiversity and nature protection
Protecting and enhancing nature is central to how we deliver renewable energy. We are committed to leaving each site in better ecological condition than we found it.
Throughout the planning and construction of the Zonnepark Koudekerke, we took care to minimise the environmental impact and ensuring responsible site management.
Across the site:
- Native vegetation and ground cover have been maintained to support soil health and local biodiversity.
- Weather sensors and advanced monitoring systems help balance electricity generation with environmental stability.
- Protective measures were implemented to preserve surrounding ecosystems and maintain the site’s natural integrity.
