Title:                          Procurement Assistant – part time (Monday and Tuesday)

Reports to:               Senior Procurement Category Manager

Location:                  Shepton Mallet, Somerset and occasional visits to Solar Farm sites nationally

Remuneration:      Salary dependent on experience, 25 days (pro rata) annual leave, pension, healthcare, life cover

Term:                        Permanent, part time  –  16 hours per week

Role Summary:           

Available immediately, this is a job share role, part time, specifically eight hours on a Monday and Tuesday.

Our Procurement team manages all procurement and buying functions from small items at head office to multiple large items required at one of our many construction sites.  The Procurement Assistant will be responsible for following the procurement process from receiving and processing purchase order requests through to the successful delivery of goods to the correct location and collating the necessary paper trail.  This includes day to day procurement activities as required by the Senior Category Manager.

From time to time site visits may be required to assess delivery and logistic requirements.

The Procurement Assistant will:

  • Ensure the successful processing of purchase order requests (QMF1151);
  • Work collaboratively with members of the procurement team, internal clients and external supply chain to ensure the delivery of a high quality, compliant, cost focused procurement process;
  • Support the provision of procurement services to the wider organisation including BSR Connect, O&M, BESS and other head office services;
  • Satisfy day to day procurement requirements to ensure added value, savings, quality and surety of supply;
  • Keep an up to date register (Bill of Materials, otherwise known as BOM) for all key items procured for each project
  • Assist the Senior Category Manager with compiling the relevant documentation including delivery notes etc. to ensure warranties are achieved.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with the Procurement standing operating procedure SOP1006 and associated documents and forms;
  • Obtain quotes from existing and new approved suppliers based on requirements outlined in Purchase Order requests;
  • For small item purchases – source new suppliers, depending on requirements outlined in purchase order requests and where necessary, complete New Supplier Approval Form;
  • Establish a good understanding of contract requirements;
  • Maintain communications with legal and contracts department;
  • Raise Purchase Orders in Sage, based on the price/time scale/location insuring goods/services are in place/delivered by required date at the most competitive price and within budget. Attach any relevant documents (request forms, quotes).
  • Place orders with relevant approved suppliers;
  • Inform the purchase requester of the status of order including placement, delivery and any changes to expectations in a timely manner;
  • Check the delivery of materials is on time and report any changes to suppliers/prices/materials to the Senior Category Manger;
  • Liaise with the accounts department to solve any discrepancies with invoices matching purchase orders;
  • Allocate delivery notes to the appropriate Purchase order on Sage, query discrepancies with relevant project or department manager accordingly;
  • Ensure head office stationery and kitchen supplies are maintained at agreed stock levels;
  • Support Senior Procurement Category Manager and the Head of Department with other duties as required.
  • Perform yearly review of suppliers on the approved supplier list

Experience:

  • IT Skills particularly intermediate Excel and MS Office;
  • Drivers Licence;
  • Experience of Sage or a similar financial package is essential;
  • Ability to multi task;
  • Able to work under pressure;
  • Five years’ experience is desirable;
  • International supply chain experience would be an advantage.

Title                           Operations and Maintenance Monitoring Analyst

Reporting to:         Head of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Technical Services and Monitoring Team

Role Summary and Objective:

The key objective of this position is to ensure maximum availability of the Solar Plants under BSR O&M control and any issues are identified as quickly as possible for investigation.

As part of the Technical Services and Monitoring Team, this role will involve monitoring the production of the BSR portfolio of plants using the company’s monitoring systems to provide first line identification and logging of potential issues.  This role also involves investigating the potential root cause of issues and supports the site based teams remotely.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring the O&M sites using the BSR Monitoring systems;
  • Logging and updating issues methodically and accurately on the BSR ticketing system;
  • Producing summary reports of current and recent issues;
  • Sharing knowledge to the wider O&M team, site and office and to promote best practice;
  • Support the Operations team with diagnosing issues identified via the monitoring systems;
  • Operation and contribution to the development of the O&M and BSR Quality Management Systems and Processes;
  • Participation in out of hours ‘On Call’ provision, in due course.

We are looking to recruit an O&M Service Technician in the Cambridge or Suffolk areas.  The successful candidate must be willing to travel to various sites across the east of the UK.

This role is responsible for the successful and safe delivery of O&M planned and reactive maintenance activities on a portfolio of utility scale solar PV plants.

Duties of the role:

Duties include planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and resolution, and reporting.  This is a permanent role and will require availability for weekend on-call duties.

  • Planned preventative maintenance of electrical, auxiliary, communications, mechanical, structural and security systems;
  • Reactive maintenance interventions and fault diagnosis of electrical, auxiliary, communications, mechanical, structural and security systems;
  • Inspections, information gathering and records keeping;
  • Completion of job sheets, stock control;
  • Access and security control;
  • H&S policy adherence and supporting the further development of the system;
  • Adherence to and supporting the further development of the BSR Quality Management System;
  • Supervision of sub-contractors, suppliers and visitors to sites;

Experience and qualifications:

  • At least five years technical experience as a qualified electrician (17th edition) or electrical engineer;

Title:                 Operations and Maintenance – Maintenance Operative

Reports to:       Regional Operations Manager

We currently have a permanent full-time vacancy for an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Operative who will be responsible for supporting O&M Service Technicians on the successful and safe delivery of O&M planned and reactive maintenance activities, on a portfolio of utility scale solar PV plants.

Although our head office is located in Somerset, this permanent role will be based across various solar farm sites in the England and Wales. It is expected that the successful candidate will normally be working on site and the role will require some availability for weekend on-call duties and the occasional head office visit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities relating to grounds, fences, security systems, mounting systems, enclosures, buildings, access tracks, cable management systems, panel cleaning and other aspects of the solar parks;
  • Inspection and testing activities in line with good practice, manufacturer’s instructions and contract requirements;
  • Planning and executing preventative maintenance and rectification works in line with agreed Risk Assessments and Method Statements and H&S Policies;
  • Supporting the O&M Service Technicians.

Desired skills, experience and qualifications

  • Previous experience in:
    • Construction site operative, with M&E and plant room installation experience; and/or
    • Plant maintenance experience;
  • Thorough approach, detailed record keeper with good situational awareness;
  • Team player and good communicator;
  • Ability to stay motivated and being productive while lone working with little supervision;
  • Enthusiasm for continuing development, learning and incremental improvement;

Title:                          O&M Lead Technician

Role Summary:

The O&M Lead Technician is primarily responsible for being the Service Delivery Team lead on all matters technical supporting the Regional Operational Managers to ensure technical solutions, reactive and planned maintenance activities are delivered safely in line with time, quality, budget criteria. This role interfaces with a number of internal and external stakeholders including Clients (when required) suppliers, account managers, service technicians and operatives in order to ensure coordination, communication and the administration of key activities are carried out.

Duties of the Role

To collaborate with and support the Regional Operations Manager and the Regional Field Service team members in:

  • HV Authorised Person (to AP or above) duties;
  • Proactive support to the development of the suite of BSR OMIs;
  • Period review of library of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (including live working risk assessment);
  • Oversight of the adherence and development of the BSR Electrical Safety Policy and implementation of any changes to the policy;
  • Designated Assessing Officer in the BSR LV Electrical Safety Rules;
  • Lead coordinator for winter HV maintenance programme;
  • Lead on the period review and roll out of site specific hazard plans and emergency response plans;
  • Lead named person coordinating the NAPIT accreditation system, and designated Qualified Supervisor;
  • Design and deliver a scheduled rota of tool box talks to field team members;
  • Coaching and mentoring Service Technicians through their career development;
  • Carrying out regular safety tours and follow up on corrective actions;
  • Championing, co-ordination of and participation in EPICs;
  • Proactive input to the planned maintenance planning process, specifically focussing on time, techniques and competencies;
  • Participation in the reactive maintenance duty rota;
  • Providing roving Service Technician capacity as and when required;
  • On call duty rota.

Title                           O&M Electrical Engineer

Role Summary and Objective:

This role sits within the O&M Technical Services and Monitoring Team. We are looking for a talented DC/LV/MV electrical design engineer with the skills to evaluate and improve the Solar PV plants and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) that we operate, including auxiliary, control, switchgear and protection.

As new O&M sites are onboarded to our portolio, the O&M Electrical Engineer will work with our site teams and performance analysts to help them understand issues on these sites and how safety, availability and performance can be maintained and increased. In addition, this role will assist in expanding the ability to review the design of new plants

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the rest of the O&M technical and monitoring team to support the Service Delivery/Operations teams, Account Managers and the rest of the Technical Services team to delivery for our clients;
  • Undertakes HV&LV installation design review of existing and new plants;
  • Identifies deficiencies in existing equipment or design and develops proposals for client;
  • Works with tender team to help identify issues with plants we are offering to provide services for
  • Works with Project Manager (Solar Farm Onboarding) to review design of new plants entering our portfolio;
  • Works with the O&M Works Package Manager to produce specifications/drawings/SLDs based on relevant standards
  • Communicates with hardware manufacturer service/technical teams
  • Reviews O&M test records to identify and mitigate issues on plants
  • Provides expertise and knowledge to assist IAC/FAC punch list technical resolutions
  • Responds to technical advisor, funder, client and owner technical enquiries

Knowledge

  • BS 7671 “Requirements for electrical installations”
  • ER P28: Planning limits for voltage fluctuations caused by Industrial, Commercial and Domestic equipment in the United Kingdom
  • ER G59: Recommendations for The Connection of Generating Plant to The Distribution Systems of Licensed Distribution Network Operators
  • Knowledge of PV and electrical system design, including Inverters, SCADA, communications and other equipment

Experience/Skills

  • CAD Autodesk
  • Experience of High Voltage system design, operation and protection
  • Demonstrable experience of large-scale PV design, plant operation/optimisation e.g. inverter reconfiguration, performance modelling, PR calculations

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in STEM subject; ideally Electrical Engineering, or

Title                         Works Package Manager

Reporting to:          Head of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Service Delivery

Term:                       Permanent, full time –  40 hours

Based primarily on our solar farm sites and drawing on BSR internal and external resources, the Works Package Manager role will be responsible for planning and implementing both larger remedial maintenance work, post Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) in the project life span and performance improvements across our solar farm sites.

These improvements will optimise the benefits for our clients and will be carried out to the highest health and safety guidance and in line with agreed budget and timelines.

Duties:

  • Work with the Asset Control team and Technical Services team in developing proposals for additional services.  In particular taking the lead on costing the proposed work where requested
  • Project manage the development, review, formal issuing, approval (internal and external) and dissemination of the pre-requisite design, test and commissioning documentation, that defines the specification of the works to be installed, in line with the BSR Information Management System procedures;
  • Project manage the development, review and formal issuing and approval of the final as-built documentation, test and commissioning records and other documentation necessary to update the relevant O&M manual, in line with the BSR IMS procedures;
  • Plan, deliver, co-ordinate, supervise and administer all maintenance remedial services and upgrade work packages that lie outside of the original O&M contract scope on solar farms across the O&M portfolio:
    • Plan the implementation of remedial work/upgrade work once approved, working with the Operations Officers to coordinate this with other site work and with Asset Controllers to ensure the client is aware;
    • Arrange and co-ordinate maintenance equipment, parts, suppliers and internal staff for all additional services;
    • Administer contracts administration for additional works packages in collaboration with the Asset Controllers, Clients and Operations Officers;
    • Coordinate and supervise the work of both BSR staff and contractors on these projects, and ensure the work is delivered to a satisfactory quality level, on time and budget, and in compliance with all regulations and with BSR’s H&S and risk management procedures;
  • Intra and inter team communications and situational awareness where works may affect the day to day of site activities;
  • Pick up on trends with regards to issues and put forward proposals about remedial work/upgrade work to the O&M management team;
  • Support and advise Regional Operations Managers and Ops Officers as and when required;
  • Support the on-going development, trial, roll out and adoption of PowerApps;
  • Collate and provide documentation to O&M team members;
  • Membership of the O&M on-call duty rota;
  • Adhere to the Integrated Management System and input to on-going development of the systems.

Essential requirements for this role include:

  • An experienced solar (or M&E) work package manager or site manager or project manager;
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualified;
  • Trade qualified (probably an electrician);
  • Previous commissioning experience;
  • Excellent people management skills;
  • Able to work to deadlines;

Title:                   IAC / FAC Maintenance Operative (Electrical Trainee)

Reports to:       IAC/FAC Manager

BSR EPC provides a professional, technology-focused Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) service for the successful delivery of solar PV, battery storage and electrical connection projects. We are looking to recruit an IAC / FAC Maintenance operative (Electrical Trainee). The successful candidate must be willing to travel to various sites across the UK.

This role primarily supports the defect rectification process on our portfolio of utility scale solar PV plants that are currently within the commissioning process. This is a salaried role and will include undertaking study and achieving appropriate electrical qualifications to enhance the skill set within the commissioning team.

Duties of the role:

This role primarily supports the defect rectification process of our constructed power plants including:

  • Completion of remedial works communicated through Punch Lists;
  • Reactive works to the various components in response to issues highlighted by Clients and Technical Advisors;
  • Inspections, information gathering and record keeping;
  • Supervision of sub-contractors, suppliers and visitors to sites;
  • Access and security control;
  • H&S policy adherence;
  • Supporting the BSR IMS System;
  • Self-lead and classroom-based training, to achieve LV electrical qualifications

Experience and qualifications:

  • Three years’ experience as a construction site operative
  • Solar PV installation and maintenance experience (including systems over 50kWp and G59/3) and willingness to work towards qualifications (C&G 2365 or equivalent);

Title:                          O&M Contract Coordinator

Reports to:              Head of O&M Service Delivery

Location:                  Shepton Mallet, Somerset

Remuneration:      Salary dependent on experience, 25 days annual leave, pension, healthcare, life cover

Term:                        Permanent, full time – 40hours

Role Summary:           

The Contract Coordinator will be responsible for running tender processes, collating all information required for the setting up of services and works sub-contracts and framework agreements and for managing relationships and any non-performance issues with sub-contractors in order to support the provision of operation and maintenance services for our portfolio of solar parks.

The Contract Coordinator must ensure:

  1. all contracts they are responsible for are in place by the required deadlines;
  2. best value for money for the works/services is obtained,
  3. all sub-contractors fulfil all QA and H&S requirements and
  4. ultimately ensure that the works/services are delivered on time, within budget and to the quality and safety level required.

The types of works/services to be covered by these contracts could include but not be limited to provision of the following:

  • Grounds maintenance (mowing, hedge maintenance, weed spraying, fence repairs, environmental surveys etc.)
  • Solar panel cleaning
  • Electrical maintenance of solar farms
  • Inverter manufacturer service contracts
  • Security system maintenance
  • Security alarm monitoring, and
  • Manned security services

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Regional Operations Managers, Operations Officers and Account Managers to obtain their input on scope of works/services required and selection criteria,
  • Collate all information required for the delivery of services/works and liaise with the Legal team to set-up sub-contracts and framework agreements (where relevant) and assist in negotiations,
  • Liaise with in-house grounds and panel cleaning team(s) to ensure all grounds and panel cleaning works are effectively coordinated and completed, and sub-contractors are not engaged where not needed,
  • Liaise with procurement and H&S staff to ensure we follow relevant procedures and obtain input from them as required,
  • Run tender processes, to ensure best value for money is obtained and the selected sub-contractor meets other criteria including quality of works and Health and Safety requirements,
  • Ensure sub-contracted works/services are delivered within budget,
  • Establish delivery plans for sub-contracted works/services,
  • Confirm with Operations Officers that works have been carried out on time and to an agreed and acceptable quality level, and maintain a log of this and of actual expenditure on a site by site basis,
  • Manage relationships and any non-performance issues with sub-contractors; liaising with the Legal team where required,

Duties of the Role

  • Continue the creation of the suite of apps created using the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Power Apps and Flow environment
  • Lead on requirements capture with stakeholders, prioritising features in line with business objectives and priorities and programme targets
  • Design and support the Azure SQL Server database, ensuring performance and Kimball methodology is adhered to
  • Using Power Bi, produce insightful management dashboards based on data collected through Apps and stored in the SQL Database
  • Produce and update all system user guides
  • Design and execute system and user acceptance testing procedures to ensure levels of defects are minimised
  • Work with the Integrated Management System team to ensure that the IMS systems are updated and kept aligned with changes in O&M business processes and systems
  • Develop and deliver training sessions that promote the smooth roll out and user adoption of systems with end users
  • Provide technical support to end users, and trouble shoot defects and faults promptly
  • Work alongside the IT team in the migration of the documents from in house file server to SharePoint, providing training to end users
  • Support the integration of O&M business processes, systems and tools into the proposed BSR Group ERP

Role Summary:             The Management Accountant will be responsible for the management accounts preparation and interrogation along with budgeting and forecasting for a group of trading entities.  The role will work closely with the Financial Controller to manage and oversee specific finance functions and to provide financial support to both internal and external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including group consolidation adjustments and balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Development of budgets and forecasts – liaison with business partners is key with emphasis on O&M and central functions;
  • Monthly presentations and challenge of results to departmental teams;
  • Working with the Financial Controller to manage the finance function;
  • Developing and managing financial systems, databases, policies and procedures;
  • Miscellaneous reporting as required.

 

Experience: A recently qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or finalist.  However, this role is also suitable for persons qualified by experience who demonstrate the key skills and experience required.
