Title:                          Senior Project Engineer (SAP)

Reports to:                BSR Connect Operations Manager

Remuneration:          Dependent on experience, 25 days annual leave, pension, healthcare, life cover

Additional:               Company 4×4 vehicle, participation in on call rota.

Location:                  Shepton Mallet, Somerset

Role Summary:

BSR Connect is a leading Independent Connections Provider (ICP), accredited under the Lloyds National Electrical Registration Scheme (NERS) up to and including 132kV, to deliver safe, robust and cost-effective connections to electricity distribution networks. We provide grid connection works from low voltage up to and including 132kV, working on projects from inception to completion, including Distribution Network Operator (DNO) adoption.

The Project Engineer is key member of the business and BSR group of companies. As the lead Senior Authorised Person (SAP) for the group, the role includes the mentoring and development of operational staff, whilst overseeing the BSR groups’ HV processes and authorisations. The applicant shall be experienced and competent in working with electrical safety rules, including a knowledge of control procedures.

The Project Engineer is responsible for managing the engineering works on High Voltage (upto 132kV) electrical projects, during initial installation and ongoing operation and maintenance.

The role requires an in-depth knowledge and understanding of protection and control schemes across a range of installations.

Duties of the Role

Manage and actively contribute to the following (but not limited to);

  • SAP duties on new connections and existing renewable/generation projects;
  • Control Engineer and mentor for developing SAP’s;
  • The management of project electrical installation and commissioning;
  • HV substation building requirements, design and installation;
  • Grid compliance and earthing studies; specify requirements, assign consultants and review of reports;
  • Liaising with DNO representatives;
  • Coordination of all associated 3rd parties, such as BT and utility companies;
  • Appointing specialist contractors for electrical works where required;
  • Sub-contracting to O&M providers (both related partied and third parties as applicable;
  • Role includes travel across the UK and staying away overnight.

 

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Senior Authorised Person (SAP) up to 33kV. Senior Authorised Person up to 132kV preferred. Training will be provided to obtain 132kV authorisation;
  • Experience within a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) or utility-based company;
  • Experience in High Voltage system design, operation and protection schemes;
  • Proven track record of managing high voltage installation projects;
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365;
  • Qualifications in Electrical installations and inspections or; qualification in Electrical Engineering such as BSc or HND.

Title:                          Junior Project Manager

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Junior Project Manager will be working with the BSR Connect Senior Management Team on tasks ranging from the development of new business opportunities through to delivery of multiple client projects. Working to gain experience, the role will have an involvement in commercial, legal, technical and construction activities required to successfully deliver high value electrical projects. The successful applicant will be highly organised and have a high attention to detail. Training will be provided for the right candidate based on experience.

Duties of the Role

Manage and actively contribute to the following (but not limited to);

  • Drawing on internal and external resources the role will involve the planning and implementation of an agreed list of functions and deliverables across the project life span from inception through to handover;
  • Taking ownership of project elements from an early stage of the project life cycle to the final deliver;
  • Liaising with clients;
  • Coordination of associated 3rd parties, including contractors, highways authorities etc.
  • Assisting with the preparation of client proposals;
  • Role is predominantly office based but will include travel across the UK with occasional overnight stays.

 

 

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Five core A levels or equivalent qualifications;
  • Bachelor level degree in a science discipline preferred but not essential;
  • Project management experience beneficial but not essential as training will be provided for the right candidate;
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work to deadlines.

Title:                        EPC Electrical Engineer

Reports to:              Head of Design & Engineering

Location:                Shepton Mallet, Somerset, UK

Remuneration:       Salary dependent on experience, 25 days annual leave, pension, healthcare, life cover

Term:                      Permanent, full time –  40hours

 

Role Summary:           

BSR Group is a specialist provider to the low carbon energy industry. We create value through managing the entire process – building, connecting and managing solar and energy storage projects in the UK and internationally to support a smart, low carbon energy grid.

We are looking for a talented Electrical Engineer to undertake design and review of Solar PV plants and integration of Energy Storage Systems (ESS), including generation auxiliary and control circuits, switchgear and protection arrangements.

BSR group is an IET Enterprise Partner and provides additional support for a structured development programme leading to chartered engineer status for suitable candidates.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Electrical systems specification, design, documentation and review in accordance with relevant ISO / IEC / BS standards, including IET PV CoP, BS7671 18th Edition etc;
  • Authorising, reviewing and amending LV SLDs and schematics;
  • Electrical protection scheme design and review;
  • Appointing consultants and assessing grid compliance and earthing reports;
  • LV electrical equipment review, specification, selection and design (including UPS, cable, meter, CT, switchgear, filter, transformer, inverter etc);
  • Liaison with electrical equipment manufacturers, technical advisors and consultants;
  • Cable sizing and optimisation calculations according to installation conditions; issuing of LV and DC cable schedules for procurement and/or installation requirements;
  • Earthing system design and review;
  • LPS design review;
  • BESS – supplier proposal reviews: inverter and cell technology, sizing and optimisation calculations;
  • Issuing of commissioning and operational instructions documentation eg. shutdown procedures; briefing notes for owners and technical advisors;
  • Interpretation of relevant ISO / IEC / BS standards and documentation of applicability to EPC designs eg. Transformer Oil bunding requirements, E-Stop designs etc;
  • Engineering calculations and operational data analysis eg. plant performance, performance ratio analysis, operational losses etc.;
  • Technical advisor reports: review, assessment and issuing of responses;
  • Site survey, construction inspection and As-Built document checks;

 

Experience:

  • Minimum five years professional Solar PV system design experience at commercial or utility scale;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of inverter specification, array sizing, yield optimisation, module selection and component assessments;
  • Proficient in electrical systems design, including electrical power circuits, SCADA, communications systems and other equipment;
  • Understanding of P28, G59/G99 and similar ENA recommendations and design/implementation of solutions to meet these requirements;
  • Familiarity with Amtech, Cableizer or similar electrical design packages to assist with cable sizing and/or protection, discrimination and optimisation;
  • Experienced user of the following software:
    • AutoCAD
    • PYSyst
    • MSOffice (particularly Excel for data analytics), Outlook, SharePoint

 

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in STEM subject; ideally Electrical Engineering, or
  • Equivalent professional experience and/or certifications
  • Membership of professional body looked upon favourably

 

A valid driver’s licence is required to enable the applicant to drive in the UK.

Title:                          Quality, Safety, Health & Environmental Systems Officer

Reports to:                Group Head of Quality, Safety, Health, Environment and IMS

Location:                  BSR Group HQ (Shepton Mallet) and various solar farm sites throughout the UK

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Group Head of Quality, Safety, Health, Environment and Information Management Systems (IMS) we have an excellent opportunity for an individual to become a valued member of the Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental (QSHE) team.

This role is ideally suited to a candidate with a flexible, adaptable approach to work and who has experience in a QSHE environment. Attention to detail and thorough approach to work tasks will be a strong skill set of the candidate, particularly in relation to documentation. The role would suit a confident individual with excellent people skills and an ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to continue their Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental knowledge and skills working in a dynamic environment across the BSR Group. Duties of the Role:

  • Administer and maintain the Integrated Management System (IMS) documents in accordance with the IMS Policies and procedures;
  • Assist in collating monthly statistics and promoting the behavioural safety program – ‘Everyone Safe Always’;
  • Carry out internal auditing and support external auditing throughout the BSR Group business units;
  • Support the maintenance and implementation of specific business unit documentation within the IMS in compliance with ISO:9001, 45001, 50001 and 14001
  • Administer Internal communications to all BSR Group employees informing them about topical QSHE subjects and news;
  • Support the BSR Groups’ business units in monitoring the corrective action status of any audits conducted;
  • Assist with providing information on bid and tenders for the BSR Group business units in relation to QSHE topics.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

Essential

  • Experience in assistance with the implementation, maintenance, auditing and improving of QSHE systems;
  • Experience of supporting the implementation, monitoring and on-going achievement of ISO 9001, 54001, 14001 and 50001;

Job Description

Title:                          Quality, Safety, Health & Environmental Advisor

Reports to:                Group Head of Quality, Safety, Health, Environment and IMS

Remuneration:          Salary dependent on experience, 25 days annual leave, pension, healthcare, life cover

Location:                  BSR Group HQ (Shepton Mallet) and various sites throughout the UK

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Group Head of Quality Safety Health Environment & IMS; this role is a mixture of 60% office based providing support to the group H&S function with various tasks including auditing, supporting operational teams with client requests, being the point of knowledge for QSHE as a specialism, collating monthly statistics and promoting the behavioural safety program – ‘Everyone Safe Always’. Site based activities make up 40% of this role and including carrying out QSHE Audits, inspections and other activities as required within the appointed business units within the BSR Group.

This is a role for an experienced health and safety professional with at least 5 years’ experience in the construction industry; having worked within a Main Contractor and is able to show a comprehensive understanding of CDM processes, procedures, regulations, related working knowledge of Construction Phase Plans; with a strong knowledge of electrical safe systems of work, including Low and High voltage. This knowledge base will be vital when completing your duties, being organised and having knowledge of business management processes would also be an advantage.

The nature of this role requires flexibility for extensive travel from the office at Shepton Mallet to our various sits and location with a requirement to occasionally to stay away from home.  A company vehicle will be provided.

Duties of the Role

  • Support, develop and report on the implementation and effectiveness of the Integrated Management System within the appointed business units of the BSR Group.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the various business specific IMS documents needed within the appointed business units of the BSR Group.
  • Provide reviews and updates on QSHE performance and progress towards achieving goals and targets
  • Conduct and deliver company the QSHE audit program
  • Support the maintenance, implementation of specific business unit documentation in relation to the comprehensive IMS that meets the needs and requirements of the business, while satisfying the requirements of ISO:9001, 45001, 50001 and 14001
  • Demonstrate through effective delivery and high standards Implement the QSHE business strategy, encompassing the business needs to identify areas for continual improvement and develop new initiatives
  • Take the lead in accident/incident investigations and facilitate communication of accident/incident investigation findings
  • Ensure external 3rd party audits are supported where requested
  • Advise the Group Head of QSHE & IMS of any non-conformances and/or risks to the business resulting from audit findings
  • Provide QSHE Monthly management reports
  • Provide professional and accurate advice to the business
  • Maintain personal skills and competencies, keeping up to date with legal requirements and best practice as a professional
  • Providing support and advice on the maintenance/use of the QSHE web-based QSHE systems
  • Liaise with local authorities and enforcement bodies to ensure the company is not subject to any enforcement action
  • Development of new and management of existing business continuity plans of the appointed business units within the BSR Group
  • Communicate clearly and professionally at all times.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

Essential

  • NEBOSH Diploma with at least 3 years applied experience
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate
