Job Description

Title:                             Paralegal/Legal Executive/Newly to 2 year Qualified Solicitor

Reports to:                   Director of Legal

Role Summary:           The role is primarily focussed in the areas of commercial and Construction contracts, but also includes undertaking other legal tasks as directed by the Director of Legal

Location:                  Shepton Mallet, Somerset

Remuneration:      Salary dependent on experience, 25 days annual leave, pension, healthcare, life cover

Term:                        Permanent, full time –  40hours

Duties and Responsibilities:

International

  • Assisting in documenting international projects;
  • Deal with International compliance and sanction issues;
  • Supporting on International tenders.

 

Commercial/Construction / O&M Contracts

  • Bonds, guarantees and parent company guarantees;
  • Liaise with external lawyers;
  • Liaise with internal teams, including finance, commercial, project managers, and procurement;
  • Security releases;
  • Drafting and negotiating appointment, warranties, JCT minor works and sub-contracts;
  • O&M Contracts;
  • EPC Contracts;
  • Commercial Contracts/Agreements;
  • Terms and Conditions.

 

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Research and review company policies in relation to anti-bribery and anti-corruption;
  • Assist with the delivery and implementation of the anti-bribery and anti-corruption policy, GDPR related policies, including training;
  • Undertake sanctions checks of potential entities and individuals;
  • Supporting the Head of Legal with legal compliance and risk management;
  • Dealing with disputes/litigation.

Legal

  • Proof reading large contracts and other legal documents;
  • Dealing with routine legal enquires;
  • Research on case law, legal precedents, marketing and sector issues;
  • Assisting in data room management;
  • Assisting in contract compilation.

Administration

  • Word processing and amending legal documents and letters;
  • Booking travel and diary management (as required);
  • Record keeping in relation to external legal resource, policies and procedures etc;
  • File management – where physical files are held, taking responsibility for filing and maintaining the files in a good order. Where electronic files are held, ensuring that all documents are scanned to the correct location and labelled accordingly;
  • Printing and binding documents and arranging other documents to be enclosed with letters;
  • Answering the telephone and taking messages or dealing with enquiries where appropriate;
  • In conjunction with team members, checking the billing from external legal resource against estimates;
  • To ensure a quality service and compliance for all matters in accordance with agreed standard policies;
  • Strong attention to detail.

Experience

  • Paralegal to two years Post Qualified Experience (PQE) or similar equivalent UK Qualified Solicitor;
  • Excellent word processing, formatting and document creation skills;
  • Strong IT Skills with an in depth understanding of MS 365 suite including SharePoint, Outlook word is essential. A good understanding of Excel is helpful;
  • Previous experience working in a legal department or law office would be desirable;
  • Well organised with the ability and desire to work within a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
  • A law degree would be desirable, good legal background knowledge is required.

Job Description

Title:                          Quality, Safety, Health & Environmental Advisor

Reports to:                Group Head of Quality, Safety, Health, Environment and IMS

Remuneration:          Salary dependent on experience, 25 days annual leave, pension, healthcare, life cover

Location:                  BSR Group HQ (Shepton Mallet) and various sites throughout the UK

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Group Head of Quality Safety Health Environment & IMS; this role is a mixture of 60% office based providing support to the group H&S function with various tasks including auditing, supporting operational teams with client requests, being the point of knowledge for QSHE as a specialism, collating monthly statistics and promoting the behavioural safety program – ‘Everyone Safe Always’. Site based activities make up 40% of this role and including carrying out QSHE Audits, inspections and other activities as required within the appointed business units within the BSR Group.

This is a role for an experienced health and safety professional with at least 5 years’ experience in the construction industry; having worked within a Main Contractor and is able to show a comprehensive understanding of CDM processes, procedures, regulations, related working knowledge of Construction Phase Plans; with a strong knowledge of electrical safe systems of work, including Low and High voltage. This knowledge base will be vital when completing your duties, being organised and having knowledge of business management processes would also be an advantage.

The nature of this role requires flexibility for extensive travel from the office at Shepton Mallet to our various sits and location with a requirement to occasionally to stay away from home.  A company vehicle will be provided.

Duties of the Role

  • Support, develop and report on the implementation and effectiveness of the Integrated Management System within the appointed business units of the BSR Group.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the various business specific IMS documents needed within the appointed business units of the BSR Group.
  • Provide reviews and updates on QSHE performance and progress towards achieving goals and targets
  • Conduct and deliver company the QSHE audit program
  • Support the maintenance, implementation of specific business unit documentation in relation to the comprehensive IMS that meets the needs and requirements of the business, while satisfying the requirements of ISO:9001, 45001, 50001 and 14001
  • Demonstrate through effective delivery and high standards Implement the QSHE business strategy, encompassing the business needs to identify areas for continual improvement and develop new initiatives
  • Take the lead in accident/incident investigations and facilitate communication of accident/incident investigation findings
  • Ensure external 3rd party audits are supported where requested
  • Advise the Group Head of QSHE & IMS of any non-conformances and/or risks to the business resulting from audit findings
  • Provide QSHE Monthly management reports
  • Provide professional and accurate advice to the business
  • Maintain personal skills and competencies, keeping up to date with legal requirements and best practice as a professional
  • Providing support and advice on the maintenance/use of the QSHE web-based QSHE systems
  • Liaise with local authorities and enforcement bodies to ensure the company is not subject to any enforcement action
  • Development of new and management of existing business continuity plans of the appointed business units within the BSR Group
  • Communicate clearly and professionally at all times.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

Essential

  • NEBOSH Diploma with at least 3 years applied experience
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • Member of IOSH with a view of working towards Chartered
  • Knowledge and understanding of Low and High Voltage Rules, and Safe Systems of Work
  • Forward thinking and pragmatic
  • Self-efficient who can manage work load/prioritise against business need
  • Forward thinking; ability to engage others and obtain buy-in
  • Clean and valid UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience of working within the Solar industry
  • Experience and/or knowledge of 45001 implementation
