Build East Suffolk, UK

Town Farm Solar Park

Supporting East Suffolk’s transition to clean, local energy

Town Farm Solar Park is a new solar development approved by East Suffolk Council. The project is located on land at Town Farm, around 2.8 kilometres north of Saxmundham and east of the A12. Covering 28.66 hectares, the scheme will bring locally generated clean electricity to the district and support East Suffolk’s wider climate ambitions.

The development comes forward at a time when many households are experiencing rising energy costs and concerns about long‑term energy security. East Suffolk Council declared a climate emergency in 2019. Combined with the UK’s national commitment to reach net zero by 2050, this highlights the need for increased renewable energy generation across the region.

Working with and for communities

The project will deliver clean, renewable electricity directly into the local grid, helping meet the energy needs of households and businesses across East Suffolk. By reducing reliance on fossil fuels, Town Farm Solar Park will play a role in supporting the district’s climate emergency declaration and the UK’s broader net zero target.

We will continue to keep residents informed through regular updates, ensuring that the community has clear information as the project moves towards construction. This includes details on site activity, any programme changes and how feedback from local people is being considered.

Environmental considerations

Town Farm Solar Park has been designed to integrate sensitively with its rural setting. Landscape and ecological enhancements will be introduced to support wildlife, strengthen local habitats and deliver measurable environmental benefits. Further detail on biodiversity measures and long‑term land management will be shared as planning conditions are discharged and the project moves into construction.
