UK Battery Storage projects.

Our battery storage sites are helping to make renewable energy reliable around the clock. By capturing excess generation and releasing it when demand is high, they keep the grid balanced, homes powered, and the UK’s energy supply secure.

We’ve delivered some of the UK’s most advanced and largest battery energy storage systems (BESS), combining engineering precision with responsible development and community care.

Both facilities are surrounded by green fields, trees, and hedges, with country roads and scattered farm buildings visible in the background.
Our Battery Projects

Fareham Battery, Hampshire

One of the UK’s largest battery storage facilities, Fareham provides 40 MW of instantly available power to the National Grid, enough to stabilise energy supply for thousands of homes.

The site helps balance demand peaks, prevent power spikes, and ensure grid resilience as the UK transitions to sustainable generation.

Installed capacity: 40 MW (1-hour duration)
Technology: 12 × 3.727 MWh Sungrow ESS units
Services: Dynamic Containment, NIV Chasing, Arbitrage
Significance: Key balancing and network management facility for the UK’s sustainable grid.

Our Battery Projects

Fideoak Battery, Somerset

Delivered in partnership with South Somerset District Council and Opium Power Ltd, the Fideoak BESS represents local collaboration driving national energy innovation.

Now expanding from 28 MW to 33 MW, the site supports multiple flexibility markets and provides vital services to the National Grid.

Installed capacity: 28 MW (33 MW upon expansion)
Technology: 22 BYD battery units, PCS Units 1.26 MW, 11 × 2520 kVA TXs
Services: Dynamic Containment, NIV Chasing, Arbitrage
Innovation: Co-optimisation ensures the system performs in the best-value markets, maximising efficiency and grid support.

Our Battery Projects

Stocking Pelham Battery, Hertfordshire

Engineered, designed, and constructed by British Solar Renewables on behalf of Sunbelt SMA, this 49.99 MW project near Bishop’s Stortford provides enough stored energy to power 13,000 UK homes at any moment.

Using state-of-the-art SMA technology, the system delivers efficient, adaptive performance that strengthens the National Grid and reduces energy costs for consumers.

Installed capacity: 49.99 MW / 50 MWh Li-Ion NMC batteries
Technology: 26 SMA Sunny Central Storage 2475 units, 26 Medium Voltage Blocks, 7 E-houses
Grid connection: 132 kV
Services: Frequency regulation and grid balancing

Why battery storage matters

Our expertise in battery storage

Built responsibly, operated with care

Like all our renewable projects, our battery sites are developed with the community and environment in mind.

We minimise visual and noise impact, select sites responsibly, and maintain open communication with local communities throughout the project lifecycle.

From design to operation, every decision reflects our commitment to safety, biodiversity, and lasting local benefit.

Powering progress for the UK

Our battery storage projects prove that renewable power can be both sustainable and dependable. Each site we build helps secure the UK’s clean energy future, keeping the grid stable and the lights on for homes and businesses.
