BSR Group welcomes alliance to push forward low-carbon smart power
A new pan-industry campaign, announced yesterday, will help the UK rapidly decarbonise its electricity supply. The Smart Power Industries Alliance (SPIA) is working towards a ‘smart energy pathway’ for the UK that will put consumers at the heart of energy policy and that create new markets for new technologies and services.
Mark Hollands, Head of Energy Strategy at British Solar Renewables (BSR) Group said: “The BSR Group welcomes this industry wide collaboration as a positive and necessary step towards achieving a cohesive smart electricity network. As developers, builders, managers and operators of distributed and smart technology the BSR Group will form part of the vanguard of this movement, both at utility scale and at consumer level.”
Smart power is a revolution in the way we generate and manage power. There are huge benefits for all consumers, for example enabling people and businesses to easily generate and sell their own electricity, or cutting bills by using energy more efficiently and when it is cheapest. These opportunities are linked to many other developments in the energy industry, including the efficient growth of electric vehicles and growing storage for renewable energy.
